My morning routine is a grounding ritual that supports both my skin health and overall wellbeing. These are the small, consistent habits that make the biggest difference to how I look and feel each day.
1. Start With Oral Hygiene
One of the first things I do every morning is use a stainless-steel tongue scraper. This ancient Ayurvedic practice helps remove overnight buildup and keeps the mouth fresh and free from bacteria.
2. Track Sleep & Daily Health Patterns
I use an Oura Ring to monitor my sleep cycles, steps, menstrual cycle, and daily stress levels. It’s a helpful tool for identifying where I can improve the quality of my rest and overall wellbeing.
3. Morning Hydration Ritual
After waking, I rehydrate with a glass of warm lemon water and a pinch of organic Celtic Sea salt. This helps replenish minerals, support hydration, and gently alkalise the body. I also love using the Waterdrop glass filter jug with its multi-stage filtration system for clean, great-tasting water.
4. Gentle Morning Cleanse
A soft, milky cleanser is my go-to for washing away any lingering overnight skincare before applying my morning products.
In-clinic favourite: Exuviance Gentle Cream Cleanser
Budget-friendly option: Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser
If you’re prone to breakouts, spritzing Clinisept onto the affected areas after cleansing can help minimise bacteria and prevent it from spreading.
5. Boost Circulation With Body Brushing
Body brushing is something I’m always trying to do more consistently- it kickstarts the lymphatic system, reduces the appearance of cellulite, and is best to do prior to having a shower. My current favourite brush is by Ithyes (under £10 on Amazon) because it’s effective without the bristles being too coarse, and scratching the skin.
6. Choose Gentle Body Care
I always opt for sulphate-free body washes to avoid using harsh chemicals, resulting in drying the skin out, particularly during the Winter months.
Current favourite: Luna Daily — formulated by gynaecologists and pH balanced
Affordable option: Sanex
French pharmacy staples: Mustela baby products for their mild formulas and beautifully delicate scent
After showering, moisturise straight onto damp skin to lock in hydration. Aveeno Skin Relief Body Oil is wonderfully lightweight yet hydrating, without leaving the skin feeling greasy.
7. Daily Supplements
Every morning, I take:
A probiotic (I rotate brands to diversify the gut microbiome)
Vitamin D3 with K2
Omega-3
Female health supplements
My favourite brands include Wild Nutrition, Bare Biology, Better You, and NuaBiome Women.
8. Move Your Body Daily
I try to incorporate movement most days- countryside walks, yoga, pilates, or strength training. I admittedly love working out at home; my current go-to platforms are Stronger for Life and Pilates by Bryony.
9. Evening Wind-Down Rituals
Before bed, I take Ready & Rested by Bare Biology, which contains magnesium bisglycinate, a gut-friendly form that supports deeper sleep.
If I’m struggling to switch off, a couple of Chapter Clarity drops on the edge of my pillow help calm my mind. The scent reminds me of the comforting vapour rub from childhood, instantly grounding and soothing.
10. LED Light Therapy
Three to four evenings a week, I use an LED device. The benefits for skin health are quite significant with regular use, from a certified device, particularly at improving the appearance and overall complexion of the skin. I’ll save the deeper science for another day.
11. Sleep on Silk
If you haven’t tried a silk pillowcase yet, I can’t recommend it enough. It reduces friction on the skin and hair, and it’s one of those small luxuries that genuinely enhances sleep comfort.
12. Read.
I have a list of wellbeing books which I work my way through, to help wind down my mind from the day. Three of my recent top favourites are; The Natural Supplement & Nutrition guide by Henrietta Norton, The Book of Lymph by Lisa Levitt Gainsley and Hack Yourself Healthy by Julia Bradbury.
I hope these little insights into my routine inspire you to create rituals that support your own wellbeing, inside and out.
